Reports to: Education Program Manager
Employment type: part time, seasonal (10-20 hours/week, April 1-June 10)
Compensation: Hourly rate $18
Location: Local farms in Central Point & Ashland, OR
Start date: April 1, 2025

Rogue Valley Farm to School (RVF2S) educates children about our food system through hands-on farm and garden programs, and by increasing local foods in school meals. We inspire an appreciation of local agriculture that improves the economy and environment of our community and the health of its members
Job Description:
The Farm to School Seasonal Educator is responsible for leading on-farm Harvest Meal field trips for grades 3-5 and farm exploration field trips for students in preschool through second grade. Educators can expect to be on the farm for five hours each day of the week that they are signed up to teach. On-farm activities include STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art & math) lessons, farm tours, animal husbandry, harvesting farm-fresh fruits and vegetables and cooking in an outdoor kitchen.
Duties include:
Lead on-farm educational programs to preschool-5th grade students
Provide direction and leadership to assisting volunteers
Maintain curriculum supplies and farm materials in an orderly fashion
Attend scheduled meetings and trainings with RVF2S staff
Provide program reports as requested to Education Program Manager
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience working with youth and the ability to manage groups in outdoor settings
Experience cooking from scratch
Flexibility and resourcefulness
Experience with sustainable farming practices and/or gardening
Excellent verbal communication skills
Access to reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Spanish language skills
Familiarity with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Experience with place-based and/or experiential learning
Experience working with preschool-aged children (ages 3-5)
