We are the Regional Hub for Jackson and Josephine Counties
Rogue Valley Farm to School is proud to serve as southern Oregon’s Regional Farm to School Hub for Education and Procurement. Under the leadership of the Oregon Farm to School and School Garden Network, we work across the state with regional leaders to discuss best practices in the farm to school movement, policy and funding initiatives, annual gatherings, and more.
PROCUREMENT HUB
School food is a complex business. As Procurement Hub, RVF2S works with school food service staff, farmers, distributers, and state and federal agencies alike to find creative solutions to increasing local food being served in school meals. We keep apprised of local and regional product availability to facilitate ordering, receiving, storage and distribution of fresh, local produce according to school menus. We also work with farmers to support their readiness to sell to schools. Once a year, we host a gathering to foster networking between farmers and schools, and facilitate peer-to-peer learning amongst school food leaders. As of Spring 2023, we also host an annual training around topics like school food nutrition and scratch cooking in school cafeterias.
SCHOOL GARDEN EDUCATION HUB
RVF2S works to support the establishment of sustainable garden programs that are integrated into the school community and support improved health, learning, and environmental awareness of the students and their families. Our staff is available to offer insight and resources to educators and community members interested in garden-based education. We host gatherings twice a year to connect local initiatives and build upon our collective successes and challenges.
